Pulse Network: the Long-Term Vision

As part of Pace’s Vision 2020 plan to modernize suburban public transportation in northeastern Illinois, Pace plans a 24-line rapid transit network to enhance mobility and suburb-to-suburb travel options. Extensive research and public input helped identify priority routes for development over the next decade.

The first two to be implemented are:

  • Milwaukee Avenue
  • Dempster Street

This innovative rapid transit network will provide fast, frequent and reliable service to thousands of daily passengers. Pace has chosen the Pulse Milwaukee Line to be the first Pulse service in operation. This line will run along Milwaukee Avenue between the Golf Mill Shopping Center in Niles and the Jefferson Park Transit Center in Chicago, where passengers can connect with CTA Blue Line trains, Metra’s Union Pacific--Northwest Line trains, and numerous Pace and CTA bus routes.

Pulse is designed to operate every 10 minutes during peak weekday periods, every 15 minutes during off-peak periods and on weekends, and every 30 minutes during late evenings.
