Introducing Pulse

Pace’s new rapid transit network, Pulse, will provide enhanced express bus service to commuters using the latest technology and streamlined route design.

Pulse is designed to provide fast, frequent and reliable bus service in heavily traveled corridors of suburban Chicagoland. With the first line on Milwaukee Avenue scheduled to launch in 2018, Pulse will differ from regular fixed route bus service in quite a few ways.

  • Limited-stop express service
  • Vehicles equipped with Wi-Fi and other technological advancements
  • Easy-to-find stations with weather protection
  • Real-time bus arrival signage

Pulse Dempster Line Moving Forward

Pace is currently planning the second Pulse line, the Dempster Line. Two open houses were held in September 2017. The project team has met with agencies and local municipalities to develop the Project Definition Report.

Pulse Network: the Long-Term Vision

As part of Pace’s Vision 2020 plan to modernize suburban public transportation in northeastern Illinois, Pace plans a 24-line arterial bus rapid transit network to enhance mobility and suburb-to-suburb travel options. Extensive research and public input helped identify priority routes for development over the next decade.

Pace held an open house on April 22, 2015 at the Niles Park District Oasis Water Park for the public to learn more about Pulse, Pace’s new arterial bus rapid transit network, and the Pulse Milwaukee Line.

The first Pulse service, the Pulse Milwaukee Line, will launch in 2018, running along Milwaukee Avenue between the Golf Mill Shopping Center and the Jefferson Park Transit Center, where passengers can connect with other Pace bus routes as well as CTA and Metra.

Pace discussed the Pulse Milwaukee Line project and provided a presentation, exhibits, and comment forms. Attendees were also able to meet with project team members.
